UPDATES: Center Street Reconstruction 10-11-18 to 10-19-18

The construction of Center Street between Blanche Avenue and Highland Avenue is scheduled to commence April 30 starting at the east end of the project.  Prunty Construction Company is the City’s contractor and their contact information is provided below.

The project will involve full reconstruction of the roadway including replacement of the existing asphalt surfacing, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water mains, new street lighting, individual water and sewer service upgrades, and minor sidewalk replacements.  Tree removal will be as limited as reasonably possible to accomplish the work.

Generally speaking, Prunty will be allowed to fully close approximately 4 blocks of the project at 1 time before moving to the next four blocks.  Temporary surfacing will be provided prior to permanent paving being installed on the entire project nearer to the end of the construction project.  Prunty is required to preserve an emergency vehicle route as reasonably possible.

Starting May 9, Prunty will host weekly meetings every Wednesday at 10 am at the City Commission room in City Hall during construction.  You are welcome to attend the public portion of the meeting.

As part of the project the City will install landowner service lines and connect your existing service lines to the mains.  The City will also extend service lines into the boulevard for lots without a service line in-place. It shall be the landowner’s responsibility to extend the service line from that point. If you intend to extend your private service lines as noted during the project I would recommend that you contact Prunty as soon as possible to coordinate your pricing, scheduling, etc. of your service improvement activities.

Garbage service will remain unchanged for those that have alley access.  Residents without alley access will be required to bring carts to the nearest open intersection for collection.  Recycling will be collected at the same locations as garbage until the street is reopened, curb to curb.  For questions or clarification about garbage or recycling please contact the public works office at 256-7515.
